Imagine this: you’ve been feeling off for months—fatigued, bloated, struggling with brain fog, and your sleep is all over the place. You finally muster the energy to visit the doctor, hoping for some answers. They run a few blood tests, but when the results come back, you’re told everything looks “normal.” Yet, deep down, you know something isn’t right. How can your blood tests show you’re fine when you feel so terrible?
If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone.
In fact, about 80 percent of my clients come to me with the same story. They’ve had blood tests done and been reassured that they’re fine, yet they continue to battle symptoms that make everyday life a struggle!
The issue is that conventional blood testing is designed to detect problems after disease has already occurred. It’s geared towards diagnosing illness, not towards optimising your health.
In the realm of conventional medicine, action is usually only taken once disease has manifested.
By the time a blood test flags something as abnormal, it’s often too late. The disease process has already set in, and your body is in a state of imbalance.
But here’s the good news: you don’t have to wait for a diagnosis to take control of your health. As a naturopath and a biochemist with over 30 years of experience, I look at health differently.
When I look at blood test results, I go beyond the standard pathology range. Rather than focusing solely on where your levels fall to avoid illness, I aim to identify where they need to be for you to feel your absolute best. I dig deeper into markers like thyroid function, inflammation, and nutrient levels, all while connecting the dots between your lifestyle, diet, and overall well-being
I understand what it’s like to be told that your blood tests are fine when, in reality, your body is telling you a completely different story.
Years ago, I was told my thyroid function was in the normal range. My blood test results showed my thyroid was on the higher side of normal but still within the accepted range. Yet, I was dealing with a thyroid tumour and an autoimmune disease affecting my thyroid.
That experience taught me an invaluable lesson: listening to your body and not just relying on conventional testing is crucial.
Your blood tests might suggest you’re fine, but if you’re experiencing fatigue, bloating, brain fog, or sleep issues, that’s your body waving a white flag, signalling that something is out of balance.
Now is the time to listen.
What sets my approach apart?
So, what sets my approach apart from conventional medicine is that I don’t just focus on lab results or pathology ranges. I look at the whole person—your diet, lifestyle, stress levels, and even your environment. All of these factors play significant roles in how you feel.
By considering these elements, we can work together to prevent disease and create balance, rather than wait for an issue to appear in your blood work.
I believe in treating the root cause of your symptoms, not merely masking them.
That’s why my focus is always on achieving optimal health. By assessing the full picture of your well-being, we can create a plan to restore your energy, balance, and vitality.
Because here’s the truth: you deserve more than just “normal” test results. You deserve to feel your best. And that starts by digging a little deeper than conventional blood tests allow. Now is the time to stop settling for less and start looking at your health holistically.
Take control of what’s going on in your body.

Ready to kick start Gut Health? Book a Call!
This is how gut microbes can influence weight!
Probiotics can help you gain weight or lose weight by interacting with our genetics, food and metabolism.
And yes, I did say lose or gain weight……..
Firstly, let me explain that the trillions of microbes in the gut need to be varied, meaning that there should be a large variety of species. There are many different species (or breeds) of microbes, and they all have their place in aiding health — the more variety and balance, the better health results.
Back to the weight loss or weight gain issue….
Do you eat yogurt and berries for breakfast? Thinking that it’s helping you lose weight?
Well, Lactobacillus acidophilus (like the species found in yoghurt) has been connected to weight gain.
I am not saying throw your yoghurt and berries in the bin. Instead, I am suggesting looking at the overall picture. If Lactobacillus acidophilus is the predominant micro-organism of the gut, then weight gain can result.
It is about the variety of species of gut microbes. Imagine if we only have trained german shepherd guard dogs in the world. It may be a safe world, but I am sure that other breeds may be more suitable as a family pet.
While Lactobacillus acidophilus is associated with weight gain, other Lactobacillus species correlate with weight loss.
Species like Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus gasseri, and Bifidobacteria animalis have been found to support weight loss.
Want to lose weight?
Look at your gut flora to support your goal.
Tests can be performed to identify the predominant species of the gut, and specific species can be utilised to support weight changes.
