Today, let’s explore how to achieve vibrant energy and feel as good as you did years ago.
True health and energy begin inside your body, not from a pill or extra workout, but from how well you nourish and support your body systems.
Clients often tell me they’re exhausted, dragging through their days, and unsure how to change. They believe their fatigue is due to age, parenthood, or being busy.
However, these are often excuses.
Age isn’t the problem; I know energetic 80-year-olds thriving daily. Their vitality comes from what’s happening inside their bodies.
How can things be different?
When clients feel tired, I ask about their diet and lifestyle. Many eat well but are nutritionally depleted.
They say they avoid junk food and eat healthily, but it’s not just about what you eat—it’s also how you eat. If you’re rushing meals, eating on the run, or multitasking, you might not be digesting food properly.
Proper digestion requires mindfulness and thorough chewing, breaking food down into small molecules for better nutrient absorption.
Eating while distracted, such as in front of a computer, while driving, or watching TV, means your brain isn’t focused on digestion. This can lead to inadequate production of stomach acid and digestive enzymes, resulting in symptoms like heartburn or a heavy feeling after eating.
Look at how other cultures, like the Greeks and Spanish, savour their meals. They enjoy the cooking process and take their time eating, allowing their bodies to prepare for digestion. While we don’t need a five-course meal, we should be mindful of how we signal our bodies that food is coming.
Engaging your senses by smelling, seeing, and hearing your food being prepared aids your stomach, pancreas, and liver to produce digestive juices.
Stress can also hinder digestion. I had a client whose digestive issues began after a stressful event 20 years ago, creating a “tiger scenario” where her body couldn’t prioritise digestion.
If stress is constant in your life, your digestion might need support.
Here are some additional tips to support digestion:
1. Incorporate Bitter Foods: Foods like lemons, limes, rocket, black pepper, and spices stimulate digestive juices.
2. Be Mindful: Chew thoroughly, savour flavours, and focus on your meal. This mindfulness helps digestion and nutrient absorption, boosting your energy and vitality.

Ready to kick start Gut Health? Book a Call!
This is how gut microbes can influence weight!
Probiotics can help you gain weight or lose weight by interacting with our genetics, food and metabolism.
And yes, I did say lose or gain weight……..
Firstly, let me explain that the trillions of microbes in the gut need to be varied, meaning that there should be a large variety of species. There are many different species (or breeds) of microbes, and they all have their place in aiding health — the more variety and balance, the better health results.
Back to the weight loss or weight gain issue….
Do you eat yogurt and berries for breakfast? Thinking that it’s helping you lose weight?
Well, Lactobacillus acidophilus (like the species found in yoghurt) has been connected to weight gain.
I am not saying throw your yoghurt and berries in the bin. Instead, I am suggesting looking at the overall picture. If Lactobacillus acidophilus is the predominant micro-organism of the gut, then weight gain can result.
It is about the variety of species of gut microbes. Imagine if we only have trained german shepherd guard dogs in the world. It may be a safe world, but I am sure that other breeds may be more suitable as a family pet.
While Lactobacillus acidophilus is associated with weight gain, other Lactobacillus species correlate with weight loss.
Species like Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus gasseri, and Bifidobacteria animalis have been found to support weight loss.
Want to lose weight?
Look at your gut flora to support your goal.
Tests can be performed to identify the predominant species of the gut, and specific species can be utilised to support weight changes.
