Today, I wanted to talk to you about the incredible transformations that can happen in our lives when we prioritise our health and wellbeing. Life is an ever-changing journey, and sometimes circumstances occur that nudges us towards seeking positive changes. As a naturopath, I witness these amazing transformations with my clients all the time and let me tell you, it always fills me with exhilaration and joy.
Transformations come in all shapes and sizes. It could be someone shedding that extra weight and feeling fantastic in their skin or regaining that much-needed energy to conquer their day. Other transformations may involve overcoming health challenges and embracing a healthier lifestyle, leaving behind those pesky symptoms. Seeing how far people can come with a little support and encouragement is incredible.
Life is a constant series of changes and challenges. . .
Life’s circumstances have a way of propelling us forward, nudging us to seek transformation. Whether it’s a health scare, the loss of a loved one, relationship breakdown or the weight of stress, these moments can serve as catalysts for personal growth and positive change. Instead of letting them weigh us down, we can embrace them as opportunities to create a better, healthier future.
Health conditions can be blessings in disguise. Health challenges can motivate us to learn how to take better care of ourselves, eat healthier, love ourselves more, and grow in many positive ways. As a naturopath, I understand the importance of providing compassionate support during these times, guiding you towards a transformative journey.
Embracing change is the first step towards these transformative journeys.
Overcoming resistance to change can be daunting for many. . .
Now, let’s talk about making those changes happen. I totally get it; change can be overwhelming.
As humans, we like to stay in our comfort zone and may be pushed to make changes when life challenges arise. It can be a bit scary, but trust me, it’s worth getting out of your comfort zone to make changes! It is not uncommon to feel resistance towards change, as we are creatures of habit, comfortable in our routines.
We all have busy lives and find ourselves making excuses like “I don’t have time for this” or “It’s too hard.” But guess what? With some positivity and baby steps, you’ll be surprised how achievable those dietary or lifestyle modifications can be!
Small Changes, Big Results!
Imagine this: rather than overwhelming yourself with drastic alterations, you can start by incorporating small, easy-to-implement changes in your daily life.
You see, those tiny adjustments you make in your daily routine can lead to tremendous results.
Let’s think of something you have already done in your life and now has a big impact….. Remember when you first learned to buckle your seatbelt or brush your teeth? At first, you had to think about it, but now it’s second nature. That’s the power of consistency!
By making gradual modifications and consistently incorporating them into our daily lives, these small steps become habits. Similarly, in pursuit of health and life goals, these small, consistent changes can profoundly impact and become a new comfort zone, leading to greater success and better overall wellbeing.
End Goal = Sustainable Path
Setting health and life goals is essential, but it is equally important to have a sustainable approach.
Have you ever done a radical diet to lose weight and then regained the weight when you stopped the diet — or started an arduous gym workout program only to stop attending a few weeks later?
Rapid, drastic changes often lead to short-term results. As a naturopath, I guide my clients to creating personalised realistic roadmaps for long-term success. I work with clients to build maintainable and enjoyable habits, so you don’t feel stuck in a repetitive cycle.
Let‘s work together. . .
If you’re tired of feeling like your life is going in circles, it is time to take that first step towards transformation. With the support of a dedicated Naturopath, you can embrace change without fear, knowing that you have the tools and guidance to achieve your health and life goals.
But you know what’s even better? Transformations do not only impact the individual but also have a ripple effect on their loved ones. As we make positive changes in our lives, our families and friends often draw inspiration from our journeys and begin their own transformations, fostering a healthier and happier environment for all.
If you are seeking support to achieve your health goals and embark on a transformative journey, I am here to help guide you every step of the way. As a Naturopath and Biochemist, I am passionate about empowering individuals like you to create a better life through small, actionable changes.
Together, we can pave the way towards a healthier, more fulfilling life, one change at a time.
Ready to kick start Gut Health? Book a Call!
This is how gut microbes can influence weight!
Probiotics can help you gain weight or lose weight by interacting with our genetics, food and metabolism.
And yes, I did say lose or gain weight……..
Firstly, let me explain that the trillions of microbes in the gut need to be varied, meaning that there should be a large variety of species. There are many different species (or breeds) of microbes, and they all have their place in aiding health — the more variety and balance, the better health results.
Back to the weight loss or weight gain issue….
Do you eat yogurt and berries for breakfast? Thinking that it’s helping you lose weight?
Well, Lactobacillus acidophilus (like the species found in yoghurt) has been connected to weight gain.
I am not saying throw your yoghurt and berries in the bin. Instead, I am suggesting looking at the overall picture. If Lactobacillus acidophilus is the predominant micro-organism of the gut, then weight gain can result.
It is about the variety of species of gut microbes. Imagine if we only have trained german shepherd guard dogs in the world. It may be a safe world, but I am sure that other breeds may be more suitable as a family pet.
While Lactobacillus acidophilus is associated with weight gain, other Lactobacillus species correlate with weight loss.
Species like Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus gasseri, and Bifidobacteria animalis have been found to support weight loss.
Want to lose weight?
Look at your gut flora to support your goal.
Tests can be performed to identify the predominant species of the gut, and specific species can be utilised to support weight changes.
