Please know that you’re not alone in dealing with these issues.
If you’re constantly feeling tired, lacking your usual zest, noticing those extra kilograms creeping up, feeling puzzled by weight gain despite no change in your diet…… there could be a range of factors or imbalances in your body contributing to these symptoms.
One possible culprit is hormonal imbalance.
Our hormones play a crucial role as messengers in our bodies, but when they get out of balance, it can lead to various symptoms like weight gain, brain fog, low energy, mood swings, and an overall feeling of not being 100%.
Reproductive hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone, as well as adrenal hormones like adrenaline and cortisol, and even thyroid hormones, all have their part to play in these symptoms.
Hormones act as messengers, communicating with different tissues and organs, orchestrating vital functions and maintaining equilibrium. However, when there’s an imbalance, it’s like a game of Broken Telephone, where the message gets jumbled, and the body doesn’t respond as it should. This can result in unexplained weight gain, hair loss, fatigue, brain fog, and more.
In my experience, weight gain and fatigue are two common concerns that many of my clients bring to my attention.
So, if you’ve noticed that you’re putting on weight, especially around the waistline, experiencing changes in appetite, bloating, fatigue, tiredness, brain fog, or any similar symptoms, please don’t be too hard on yourself and assume it’s just a matter of overeating. Instead, let’s consider the possibility that hormonal imbalances may contribute to these changes.

Restore balance and uncover the underlying causes…
Recently, I had a client who is a wonderful mum of two young children. She suffered from monthly weight gain, bloating, fluid retention, and irritability. The mum had no periods due to having previously undergone a hysterectomy, hoping it would correct some symptoms. However, the procedure didn’t correct her hormonal imbalance.
To address her symptoms, I focused on rebalancing her hormones through dietary adjustments, lifestyle changes, and incorporating herbal remedies.
The results were truly amazing! Not only did she stop experiencing monthly weight gain, but she also regained her energy, overcame brain fog, and found herself being more present and patient with her children. Plus, she achieved her desired weight and shape.
Finding harmony on your hormones…
It’s important to keep in mind that there’s no one-size-fits-all solution for hormone imbalance.
It requires a holistic approach and considering the whole person, including diet, lifestyle, genetics, thoughts, and emotions. Factors like stress can disrupt hormonal equilibrium, affecting both thyroid and reproductive hormones.
So, let’s take into account all aspects of your life to help restore hormonal balance. Each individual’s journey is unique, and making small yet meaningful adjustments to your lifestyle and diet can contribute to finding that balance. Supplements and herbs can provide valuable support along the way.

This is how gut microbes can influence weight!
Probiotics can help you gain weight or lose weight by interacting with our genetics, food and metabolism.
And yes, I did say lose or gain weight……..
Firstly, let me explain that the trillions of microbes in the gut need to be varied, meaning that there should be a large variety of species. There are many different species (or breeds) of microbes, and they all have their place in aiding health — the more variety and balance, the better health results.
Back to the weight loss or weight gain issue….
Do you eat yogurt and berries for breakfast? Thinking that it’s helping you lose weight?
Well, Lactobacillus acidophilus (like the species found in yoghurt) has been connected to weight gain.
I am not saying throw your yoghurt and berries in the bin. Instead, I am suggesting looking at the overall picture. If Lactobacillus acidophilus is the predominant micro-organism of the gut, then weight gain can result.
It is about the variety of species of gut microbes. Imagine if we only have trained german shepherd guard dogs in the world. It may be a safe world, but I am sure that other breeds may be more suitable as a family pet.
While Lactobacillus acidophilus is associated with weight gain, other Lactobacillus species correlate with weight loss.
Species like Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus gasseri, and Bifidobacteria animalis have been found to support weight loss.
Want to lose weight?
Look at your gut flora to support your goal.
Tests can be performed to identify the predominant species of the gut, and specific species can be utilised to support weight changes.
